I’m writing this on Christmas morning, the next-to-last blogpost of the year for me. The wheel of the year has turned, one more time, and the light is beginning to return. Although we’re in Winter now, which manifests where I live in the Bay Area as gray, blustery, rainy days, the softening has begun. We may not be able to see it, or feel it. The ground is hard, holding seeds safe until the time is right for them to sprout. The trees are bare, but if you look, you can see the buds on the branches. They’re there, yo, even if everything looks hard and brittle and dead. I’m all about the heartwarming this season. I’ve needed it. There’s been so much tragedy, and challenge, and more tragedy that I’ve needed to reach for stories full of hope.
[Humble interruption: Thanks to my friend for watching over me and my thoughtless languaging. The last thing I meant to do was to invoke a violent image, which I thoughtlessly did in the paragraph above, and which I have now changed. Another reminder to slow down and read and re-read before I publish. To those of you who received my newsletter, please accept my apologies for my thoughtlessness. I will do better, I hope! Onward...! Thanks, Rabbit! Now back to the rest of this post...]
Yoga and meditation and generosity aren’t enough sometimes. Sometimes I need to search out stories about other peoples’ acts of valor and love in the face of anything and everything. And then, to search out videos that make me weep with laughter. I want to share some of those with you today.
Full Moon in Cancer, Friday the 28th, at 2:21am Pacific. This Full Moon, with the Sun in Capricorn opposite the Moon in Cancer deals with the balance between our private lives and our business lives. Domesticity and family on one side, achievements and business on the other. The Cancer energy reminds us to value our home, our roots, our family, while Capricorn urges us to keep moving forward, to keep doing to work to manifest our highest good in our business, in our work.
The recent shooting tragedies call for this prayer: May the light of this Full Moon focus our efforts to manifest our highest most loving values every day for the benefit of all children everywhere.
This Full Moon balances the commitment between our home lives and our work lives. Family gatherings, sharing what we have with others, is a big theme as we move through the festivals of the return of the light: Chanukah, Solstice, Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa. And then as the New Year approaches, the urge to plan for the New Year calls to us. We start thinking about goals for our business, we feel called to define and commit to what we will take on and accomplish in 2013.
At the Full Moon, the Sun and Moon activate the square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. We move closer to being ready to do whatever it takes to bring the world into alignment with our values.

Thanks for this. I’ve lost track of the moons. That’s one of my 100 things for next year. More ritual.
@Arwen of Tarot By Arwen Arwen, glad it’s useful. I promise to keep the New Moon and Full Moon posts coming…I find being aware of the Moon and the Wheel such a lovely addition to living an intentional and conscious life, just like divination with Tarot.
Love and light,
Sue
