Stop! Wait! Before you start visioning and writing goals for next year, do this first: Review, Complete, and Release the year that’s ending!
This is the season when you will likely find yourself moved to set goals for the new year, to make plans to implement new and more positive and productive behaviors and habits.
You’ll feel drawn to spend time leaning into, defining and clarifying your vision for the year ahead. You may even be thinking about those things right now.
But before you start visioning, and writing those goals and intentions for the coming year…Stop. Breathe. There’s powerful and necessary work you can do first, to lay a strong foundation for 2018.
Honor yourself in the most sacred way and allow for closure for all the beautiful actions you took in 2017. Take the time to look back, and acknowledge your magnificent accomplishments of this past year. Make note of what challenged you, and what may still be incomplete. Celebrate yourself for all the new, audacious, brave, risky things you’ve taken on, tried, manifested. The actions that worked out as planned (or better!) and the ones that didn’t. Take the time to grieve what didn’t pan out, or what you had to release in order to heal and move forward. Even when your efforts fail, gorgeous, as long as you’re trying, you’re making progress. They call it failing forward, a wonderfully elegant concept.
I promise you, taking the time to do this completion and release work will remove the weeds and undergrowth from your path, so that your new start—the goals, visions, blessings and miracles you will bring to 2015 — will germinate, root and flower beautifully for you.
Honor yourself in the most sacred way and allow for closure for all the beautiful actions you took in 2014. Take the time to look back, and acknowledge your magnificent accomplishments of this past year, and set the stage for your magnificent 2015.
Read what a client, Christine Scudder, has to say about the Completion & Release Workbook
“In the process of reviewing the questions in the Completion and Release workbook, I found that I actually took some significant risks and actions in the past year, and that each risk, each action, was deserving of my mindful attention and gratitude. I faced things that needed to be revealed in “black and white” (though, inspired by the beauty of this workbook, I wrote my responses in Technicolor!), while also giving credit for things that I accomplished. I so enjoyed the way that each of the five elements were explained and translated into reflective questions.” —Christine Scudder, MSW.
How to use the workbook
There are five pages of questions with four questions on each page. Print out the workbook, if you like, or use your journal, to do this working. Four of the pages pose questions that relate to the four elements (Air, Fire, Water, Earth) and the fifth page has questions that reflect your most sacred and regal Spirit. Have fun with this! Bring your lightness and openness to this working. This process is designed to be enlightening, exhilarating, and enlightening. You are where you are for a reason, and every challenge that came your way had its lessons and blessings for you. Let this release work help you set the stage for the upcoming year, with love and compassion.
I celebrate you!
And here’s what another client, Kim Partin, has to say about this working
“Looking back after doing this work, I got clear with my own disappointments and got to acceptance. Now that I have completed the release workbook I feel ready to move forward, to examine why I felt locked and the areas where I became clogged. I am positioning myself for new solutions and growth, as I am in a new area of my life that is uncharted territory. Sue has an amazing ability to lead me to the truths of my heart and make the sparkle of possibility a reality.” —Kim Partin

You may notice, precious one, that I don’t use the word resolution. That’s because I have seen in my own life and in the life of the women I work with that resolutions by themselves just don’t work. Need proof? Take a look at the attendance at your gym in January, and then in February and then in March… Dwindle much? Here’s what I know. Resolution without a strong, sustainable base of vision and intention are as effective as houses built without firm foundations. That’s why I created the Completion and Release workbook, so you can end this year and start the next with a strong, sustainable foundation.
