gratitude thursday 11/5

I am living the life of a transformed woman. This season of the growing darkness has been incredibly rich and blessed for me, and it continues to be so.

The ho’ike — the performance of all the classes of my hula school on the weekend of October 24 was amazing. So bonding, 240 of us in the tent city we created backstage at the Palace of Fine Arts.

Samhain with my coven sisters was solemn and beautiful. A beautiful ofrende (altar) outside with candles commemorating all the muertas (dead) of this past year. Ceramic muertas that Victoria has made. Witches in flowing black clothes, pointy hats, carrying brooms and skulls. Singing, dancing, honoring the women who have been put to death for being different, for being witches.

And then my birthday weekend away. 24 hours of the music camp experience, something Leila has been loving for ten years now. Teaching a hula class. Getting to know Leila’s cherished friends.

From music camp to two nights at Harbin Hot Springs. Deepening relatedness with my sweetheart, soaking in the amazing mineral water under the full moon, hiking up the hill to the teahouse dome, delicious food, great body work. Carefree. Sweet.

And my croning is coming. Nine days from now I will have my croning ceremony.

I am awed by all this wondrous deep delightful opportunity for change and joy and love.

Oh! And the Yankees won the World Series for the first time in nine years last night. Finally! What a wonderful thing. And I got to see the win with my dad. Woohoo! I’m a happy Yankee fan.

Blessings blessings blessings.

Sharing birthday and Day of the Dead happiness — a gift for you!

I’m a barely tamed hippie, sage, seasoned, sarcastic (not all the time any more, but still). I’m a mom, a daughter, sister, a neighbor, and a friend. I’ve been on this meandering journey — like you, probably — seeking a better connection to and experience of peace, harmony, and fun in every bit of life. I’m single, quite good at it, and mostly love it. I’m here for the conversations I get to have with you, which these days center on exploring the mystery and beauty of life, work, health, aging, and creative expression.
